Yes.  I re-set the plate height to 1) get at least 6mm of cap so that I 
can notch without cutting into the root, and 2) minimize the variation 
in string height across the piano.   I haven't tried machining the plate 
to eliminate humps or sags in string height - is a mm or two variation 
in bore distance worth all that trouble?
