Pounds have not changed.  I can't say anything of Mapes but I'd love 
to see independent verification of the R. figure.  According to that 
you could safely design a string with No. 17 wire to come to pitch at 
275 lbs. and I say that is pure fantasy.  Please try it and let me 
know!
