Take a piece of scrap plywood (6"x12"....exact size doesn't matter much), drill two holes 3" apart, insert dowels that protrude 1/2". Drill two holes in the bottom of the canister 3" apart, big enough to accept dowels. Clamp plywood to bench, set canister on dowels, use strap wrench to unscrew canister top. Paul E.
