Yes, why are the strut-adjacent strings less stable?  Sure, the bridge has no downforce for a bit; does that mean the soundboard (and/or bridge) bulges up there when the whole board swells?

  The strings adjacent the plate struts are more prone to change during tuning. Gotta be something to do with the lack of tension on those portions of the bridge at the ends of a section of strings.
