spare or scrap hammers

At Schaff Piano they have a box in the back which is full of individual hammers. Last time I looked (about a year ago) there were a couple of hundred hammers in there. Grand, vertical, bass end, high treble, from various manufacturers, etc. (Brands that Schaff sells)

I don't know how successful you'd be trying to match Kawai hammers in various registers, but I thought as a general informational post, the population of the list at large might be interested in knowing that this resource exists. Or at least it used to. (Things seem to be changing over there...)

        Hey Now,

Does anyone know of a source for assorted hammers not full sets? I have a Kawai UST 7 located in a church that some one broke the hammer off and took it for souvenir. At another church I have a Kawai grand that has some hammers in the fifth and sixth octaves that some critter snacked on, some right on the crown. I have filed and shaped the grand hammers as best I can but the tone does not match as good as I would like. I have a couple of old sets of grand hammers one from a Baldwin and one from a Steinway, I guess I could replace with one of these in a pinch but would prefer to get some Kawai hammers if I can.

Not sure if Kawai International could help me on this???? Don, Mark, you out there?

  Thanks in advance.
