Even though the plate says Schafer & Sons? Except by already having learned this, how would I go about discovering this? I mean besides posting the question here. This is interesting. -- Geoff -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of VOCE88 at aol.com Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2007 5:49 PM To: pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Re: Schafer & Sons question Sorry to tell you, but she has a Dae Woo upright piano. Shafer & Sons WG-5 upright sn: 810168 (There are no letters preceding the serial number.) Pierce says 1985, BUT the dealers invoice for the purchase is dated 1981. And, she and the dealer invoice both claim that she bought it "new". Also, at least two wound bass strings are mismatched and there are two philip head screws in the soundboard, along the grain and about 8" apart, right in the middle of the bass section. Since the mismatched strings are buzzing I'm going to be replacing both pairs. She has never had any strings replaced, and except for tuning, has never had any work done on it. So, how much of this description seems unreasonable to you for a new piano? Any ideas what's going on? Neither of us have a real problem with any of this. Except for the two buzzing strings the piano is very nice and performing well. But having found these discrepancies, we're now just curious about what she really has. -- Geoff Sykes -- Los Angeles -- <http://www.ivories52.com/> http://www.ivories52.com/ _____ Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com <http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour/?ncid=AOLAOF00020000000982> . -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
