Defending one's tuning

Geoff,While you certainly did your best to satisfy your customer, and it
doubtless felt an inopportune time to assert that your hearing was much
better than his, it may be a good idea to write him a letter in which you
suggest to him that you've been thinking (and consulting others) about your
recent appointment with him, and that you believe that he may have suffered
some hearing loss, and that he would benefit from making an appointment with
an audiologist. With the appropriate evaluation, and treatment, it is your
(our) hope that he will be able to enjoy music as much as he had in the
past.
It's honest, and it empowers him to take positive action. And you'll be glad
to work with him once he's come to terms with his situation.
Best,
Patrick
