Terry,
I often replace the underfelt on backchecks due to wear or an insect buffet.
see my website, (services page>backchecks>refelting) The only person that sells the proper stuff is Jurgen at pianoforte supply. Call him and specify 2,3 or 4mm thickness dense felt. Hot hide glue application of course. Good luck. Mike

Subject: Rebuilding Grand Backchecks
I will be rebuilding a set of grand backchecks. I seem to remember a recent discussion on escane (sp?) instead of leather - is this good - is this available - where? Or, if not, who recommends leather from where? Also, I don't see grand backcheck felt in the Pianotek catalog - what kind of felt is used under the leather?
I searched the archives, but came up empty.
