I tore fairly quickly, thinking it proper, and over the course of about 30cm, the cloth went from about 9mm wide to about 17mm wide. What did I do wrong??? Or is there a bias to the material that you can't discover until you tear the first strip? Then, do the following strips tear straight? >> Greetings, Most large pieces of bushing cloth will have a cut edge and a torn edge. If you examine it carefully, you will see which side should be torn. What happened here is that you began tearing on the cut side and the cut didn't follow the warp,(or woof) of the fabric. You can tear that odd shaped piece into thinner strips, leaving only one small triangular shaped edge if you tear it again, starting 9mm from the previously torn edge you did.
