What are benefits of new shanks on upright hammer replacement ?

OK Avery, it is a word but it is the name for the sound we make to make
certain sounds by narrowing a passage in the vocal tract.  The letter "F"
requires a mono-labial voiceless fricative while the letter "V" is the same
only voiced.
