A fine point: shorten the length of the damper (trichord) on the front side, a shorter felt along with trimming to the string line will reduce the 'drag' coefficient. Front-side-drag is most pronounced. Also for longer felts 1" or more, cut them in half with nippers, this will add to their degree of softness, adding to their more effective damping. -- Regards, Jon Page
