Hi, I have used Katsura's piano tuner for OSX. I also tune aurally, and usually use a peterson virtual strobe for reference. Since this program had a strobe I tried it out. Im using an iBook G4, but the onboard mic is not sensitive to the piano. Using an external Blue Snowball usb mic, I found the program's strobe feature usefull. I also found the cents deviation and needle displays to be useless. My peterson virtual strobe claims to be accurate to 1/10 cent, and the strobe on katsura's software is comparable. Katsura does offer his strobe tuner software which is significantly lower priced than the piano tuner. I did not find the stretch tables usefull, due to the inability of the software to measure cents deviation reliably. Its not intended for professional ETD-"only" use as the accutuner/veritune/cybertuner are. Richard Barber Santa Clara Valley ============== quoted text ============== Hi! I am an aural tuner and am getting better and better over time setting a temperament and producing pleasant tunings. I have searched the archives in every way I can think of to see what people think about the Katsura tuning software called Piano Tuner for Mac OS X. Haven't found any useful results. At the risk of rehashing an old question, is there anyone out there using the software? What do you think of it? I know that it can't really be compared to the SAT or Verituner, but might I find it useful if I can already set a temperament and just want something to check my initial accuracy? Thoughts please...
