My husband and I just received a letter from a friend of ours who lives and performs (with his son) in the Kansas City area. I had to laugh because it's just SO typical. Hope you enjoy it. Barbara Richmond "We played a gig last week at the downtown M-------. When we were setting up, I told J--- to raise the lid on the Yamaha grand. As he did, it began to slide off the other side of the piano. Fortunately, I was there to catch it. Someone had removed the hinge pins. The lid was just slab resting on the top of the piano. I tried without success to explain this to the "event planner." All she could say was, "So the piano is out of tune?" "No," I said (though it was badly out of tune), "the lid is not attached." "So it's out of tune and it's not loud enough?" We just sat down and played. If we ever see a check from these people, I will be amazed.
