I once had a semi-pro oboe player with a brand new S&S "B" insist that about G5 through D6 be just a smidge lower than usual...about one or two cents. He checked aurally as I went through each note and darn if he wasn't dead on consistent. I finally decided that the oboe in that particular range is not going to be pushed to the higher side of pitch as the piano would be. I was impressed.
