Brian Thanks. More 'grist' for the mill, eh? (...sorry...) I do, of course, lift the punchings and twist down there. In fact, just to show you how careful I can be, (at times) I completely removed the punchings, on a piano that was getting its keys rebushed, before I polished the keypins with Brasso and untwisted them back to their proper orientation. That way, not only did I not scratch the keypins when untwisting, I also did not get any Brasso on the felt punchings.
