I'll add my experience with my SAT I. I've had mine since 1988, when I first started in the piano business. I've replaced the battery pack 4 or 5 times or more, last done 2 years ago by the Sandersons. At that time, I also had them replace the buttons and face of the unit and install a new mic. I've lost count how many times I've dropped it. IT HAS NEVER FAILED ME, EVER. I had another ETD for a few months, which I later sold, and went back to my trusty old SAT. The ETD was ok, though I had a hard time adjusting to the display. I found I preferred the SAT lights, which are brighter and easier to read than the computer screen. The battery life on the SAT is 10 times better than in the Pocket PC I had. ( I liked to use the backlight all the time, so that's not so surprising). Although some day I may go to the SAT III, for now I don't feel the need. I like having a dedicated machine. Like my Timex, it just keeps on tickin'. Consider this a shameless plug for ol' Al & Sons.
