Wanted to comment on one thing, "As a new tuner you must not quickly assume that every hard-to-tune unison is a result of false beats (wild strings). Almost any unison can be made acceptable, if not good, with careful tweaking and solid pin/string settling. In other words, don't give up too easily here, either." I'll add that if the octave is bad, it also makes the unison bad. Some of the "falseness" in a unison comes from its octave being too flat or too sharp. With most spinets, you have to listen extra carefully for the correct octave placement (and everything else, really). Tuning spinets is great training to make you a better tuner.
