Yes.  Ric's initial comment was that, among other things, the ribs served to
transmit vibrations across the grain which seemed to be questioned.  I was
only commenting that, yes indeed, the ribs do serve to transmit vibrations
in that direction.

Indeed, because the cracked pieces of panel are all glued to the ribs and 
the ribs are vibrating with the panel. No?
