piano moving technique

When you are moving a piano you are never quite sure what you are going to
run into on the other end. The conditions on the loading end may be quite
favorable for forgoing the skid. But when you get to the delivery end you
may be sorry.

Skids offer a great deal of protection for the piano, especially when
rocking the dolly up steps. I'd rather have the skid drag the concrete than
a padded rim. Ditto for bumping into door frames.

Skids also provide a much more stable and secure platform. Strapping to a
dolly is just not as secure.

Please explain why. Understand, I'm not taking a position on this at all -
I've never moved a piano and I've simply never seen a skid used.

Not many stairs here is flat Florida. Does a skid have handles on it for
carrying?

Yes.
