piano moving technique

No serious piano mover is going to move a grand piano cross town without a skid.   
How would they get it up stairs.   Do they tie the piano into the truck still on the dolly?   As others have said moving around the building as they do is OK as long as the dolly is padded...but:

You're the boss now...time to make some changes.    An easy one is setting the skid on the dolly, put a block of wood under the front of the skid where the bass corner is set down.   The can continue to tip right onto the dolly but you want a skid included...they can set it up right from the skid/dolly also, just reverse the moves.    In my craziness of youth, I use to move 9 fters with one big fellow...Stacy...ex-security guard for Bill Graham Presents...
