Hi folks. We have a troublesome Steinway D which develops from time to time a very annoying, for not to say downright obnoxious, buzz that activates when one play C6 loudly. Thats the only note that will get it going... but boy does it ever. I have isolated the problem to the cross strut where it screws into the middle cast strut. (farthest distal) I've been able to tighten this before and alleviate the problem but this time around I actually had to loosen the screw just a tad. I have no doubt that in some period of time things will settle in again and the buzz will return. I am 99.8276 % sure that if I was to put a small piece of thin bushing cloth between the cross strut flanges and their counterparts on the cast plate that the problem would go away once and for all. My question is... dare I remove the cross strut even for a short time to do this ?? Thanks for any input RicB
