Hi Stéphane,

We had exactly the same experience with refelting of hammers by Desfougères'son.
We stopped working with him about 2 years ago, because of the decrease in quality.

That is why we now send our Pleyel hammers to Germany (Abel, mainly, although we only buy Renner heads for hammer changes, Abel does a good job in refelting) to have them refelt.
They work really great, and they make really awesome refelting of the hammer butts of Pleyel grand actions.
It is like new.
I recommend you let them do this work (hammer refelting and butts refelting).

We have 2 Pleyel grands in our workshop right now, one is about to be finished, and the other one will be our next victim ;-)

Tomorrow, I'll measure the boring distance on the new set Abel sent us if you want.
About the wooden core, I suppose it is walnut.
I won't be able to give you the weighting of the hammer heads because Abel sends them already glued and ready to mount.

Regards,

Quentin
