If it's a 3/4 plate on the old large Knabe, the upper flange is wedged in very tight under the block. I've had to remove the bass side of the case to get at the end to wedge it up. Also, be sure the screws UNDER the bottom of the plate are out (bottom board off). On one old Knabe we had to remove and replace with a new block to get the plate out. Good luck.
