GHreetings Rodger,

What do you mean by pre-filed? Is that filed before I
needled them? If so, Yes, I have filed the grooves out of the hammers, but I
hear the hammers' tone get more sublte when I file them, not brighter. Is
this just a matter of syntax/word preference or is there a particular methiod of
filing that will make the hammers brighter? Afterall I AM a rookie.

Thanks again,
Juli Gottshall

Hi Julie,
The sand paper is only used if you apply too much spray.
The nice thing about this method , is that there is a small amount of material
and will not soak into the hammer very far. It's dry in a few minutes.
Use a very light grade of sand paper about 400 grit, if needed.
I am assuming the hammers have been pre filed to obtain some extra brightness.

Regards Roger

Greetings Rodger,

If I use the hairspray, do I use light sandpaper, BEFORE or
AFTER spraying?
Also doesnt sanding the hammer make it softer?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Julia,

A nice simple solution. Mask off the surrounding hammers,
Spay the crown with a light coat of hair spray, should bring back the sparkle.
Easy to reverse, by lightly sanding, very controlled.
