I use it all the time, with hammer hanging as well, and I have found that the longer working time probably creates a better glue joint by allowing you to reposition parts without breaking a glue joint that has set up before you are ready. With respect to = bushings, strength is not really at issue, so using urea allows you to do more at = one spreading without concern that the glue will be gelling at the end of = your run and compromising the bond. =20 =20 David Love davidlovepianos@comcast.net=20 -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org] On = Behalf Of Joe Garrett Sent: Saturday, September 10, 2005 9:11 AM To: pianotech Subject: Re: Hide Glue =20 David Love said: "Use urea to lengthen the working time." =20 I strongly suggest Against using urea. It will weaken the glue!!! The = key to working with hide glue is: Don't dawdle! Flack suit Zipped!<G> BTW, I = have done tests on this issue.=20 Joe Garrett, R.P.T.
