Yep, in the old days, just a few congressional terms ago, the right and left use to get together and socialize etc. Not anymore.
Certainly the Federal has a hand in this but I think the local people have to use the volunteer fire department attitude if nothing else is coming through.

>Actually David, no I dont notice that. I do notice however that to an
>alarming increasing degree in the western world there are hatefull
>politics on all sides. Used to be folks were able to aggree on

>As for the New Orleans problem. To not acknowledge the federal level of

>such catastrophies and that in this case they have failed miserably in
>being prepared is just plain wrong. Even the president acknowledges that.

>Perhaps instead of bickering amoung ourselves... we who are far removed

>Back to pianos please, there are indeed better places to get involved on
>the Katrina subject matter... should that be ones desire.

>Ever notice how it's always hateful politics if the Republicans are on

>That being said I will refrain from further comment...

>But...I put the blame for the New Orleans mess squarely on the local
>people in charge. They've had plenty of years to have some preparation
>for the flooding possibility. The most suspect levees were along Lake
>Pontchatrain, I believe. Why didn't they have a neighborhood watch
>program in place. People ready to volunteer to keep an eye on the
>levees. Heavy equipment housed right in the general area with a plan

>Government for every local problem.
