Mileage Q's

You are entitled to charge for mileage both ways. You have to record it as income, then take off the allowable deduction on your tax retur.

The IRS not only likes a logbook -they insist on one or will disallow your mileage during the aforementioned audit. Reconstruction of one is, as you say, possible. It is also time consuming.. Ever so much better to keep accurate records as you go along. This, I can say from poignant experience.

Been theree, done, that, and the IRS should give T-shirts.

The IRS likes a logbook. For some, that is another item to be
lost. Presumably you keep a customer service record. Write mileage
on it. Mileage is reconstructible, if you are faced with an audit,
from your service record, provided it includes addresses. Most
Internet mapping programs will figure mileage between addresses, some
more accurately than others.

Good luck.
