This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment The PDS32 was the precursor to the PDS128. In the mid 90's the 128 came out, a huge upgrade. It was made even better with the introduction of the PDS 128 Silent Drive in the late 90's. As I understand it, Yamaha's patent rights (purchased from Marantz Pianocorder) expired by then and PianoDisc reversed engineered the technology for the silent drive. It uses an algorithm to pulse the solenoid activation current to control its velocity. Pre-Silent Drive used a low frequency pulse that was very noisy. The Silent Drive technology uses a high frequency pulse. The PDS 32 was very noisy, from the power supply to the solenoids.
