  Hi, I'm an RPT and a fair share of the pianos I have here are =
overdampers and THAT IS the exact way I tune them!

         I think that all you... "will not tune overdamper pianos" group =
should be trained to tune these pianos using Paps mutes or a similar =
device as part of your RPT exam. You all display your "RPT" status =
proudly, but, will not work on old pianos! I wonder what you would think =
if your doctor said to you on your next visit....sorry I only deal with =
young patients!!=20

        Many of these old overdampers are easier to tune, and some have =
better pin blocks than some underdampers. It only takes a slight change =
of method. Reading what some of you guys are doing trying to insert your =
tuning strips is quite comical. You obviously have not heard of the =
saying...There has to be a better way!!

        I don't work on birdcages anymore but....I remember tipping the =
action towards me so I could insert temp strips on all the unisons =
leaving just one string to deal with when tuning. Then when I couldn't =
take it anymore, I'd remove the temp strips and do the unisons...
