 From my limited experience, I have to agree with Mother on this 
aspect.  In 30+ years, I've only had to deal with ONE overdamper upright. 
Maybe in the east coast cities there are more "birdcages" (my one 
overdamper experience _was_ in Phila), but here in the hinterland, if it 
wasn't rosemaled, they didn't bring it.
