Wasn't in the business then, but I know this: If you expect things to get bad, they will. If you get creative, stay positive, focused, and energetic, you'll be just fine. 

There are always counter forces at work, too. Like in the period you describe where new car sales suffered but used car sale rose and mechanics and auto parts stores got a boost.

I really believe that we largely create our own economic fortune, positive or negative, based on our willingness to change, our creativity, and MOSTLY, our attitude.

Soapbox is creaking under me; I'll step off now.

This one is for all the techs who were in business during the 70's gas crisis. My question is, how negatively did it affect your income? I'm wondering what to expect in Jan.Feb.etc. with heating costs expected to double, gasoline @$3 a gal. etc.
