Yep; they're a major headache when the spring which sprouts from the 
jack and is a substitute for a modern repetition lever decides to 
disintegrate. A major hassle when you're there for its 
once-a-generation tuning (and no spring wire in your kit), but if 
you've got the action in your shop you might even enjoy replacing the 
whole set of those springs.
Aside from that problem, the action functions reasonably well. How 
about the pinblock? I'm guessing near to zero torque on those pins, 
unless they paid special care to the Ampico host-pianos.
