Well, I thought THIS was a little funny: "When the jack slips from
underneath the Knuckle, the hammer is said to "escape" as it surges =
upward
suddenly and strikes the string."
=20
I don't think the hammer does any "surging" or is suddenly traveling =
upward.
If anything, gravity and friction would slow it down a smidge (a very =
small
smidge, but a smidge nonetheless) after letoff.
=20
This seemed weird, too: "Basically if the key is moved from a full =
stroke
the jack does the pushing but if the key is moved from a lower position =
as
in fast or very soft repetition, the balancier does the pushing. This =
dual
pushing of the hammer is called "Double Escapement."=20
=20
Not the definition of "double escapement" I've heard (kinda vague on =
this,
something to do with the jack tripping and the rep lever being stopped =
by
the drop screw, but not "pushing," surely).
=20
Also, what's this about the balancier doing the pushing? The whole idea =
of
the thing is to get the jack back in place so IT can do the pushing, =
yes?
=20
Was explaining an out-of-place upright jack spring problem to a lady
customer once and made a comment something like: "It's designed to get =
the
jack positioned under the butt." She replied: "Yeah, I need that some
mornings." One of those moments that makes it all worthwhile.

Hi,
I think it is intended for the general public. What parts do you find =
"off"?
