I've been using a double X keyboard stand for quite awhile.  It has worked quite nicely; folds up into a very thin and portable unit, and has adjustable height.  Using that, and Bill Spurlock's action shelf, I have had plenty of room to work on grand piano actions, and/or store them while I clean the inside or work on dampers.  This was before I went to the recent PTG conference in Sacramento.

I happened to see a flyer flying around the convention that had pictures and descriptions of this really practical looking fold-up grand action caddy with wheels, built in keyglide simulators, and and a jig for simulating string height.  It was designed and built by Laroy Jones.

I sought one out so that I could see one in the flesh.  David Anderson had purchased the last one, and he was happy to show it to me.  I ordered one a week later, and it got here last week.  

The cost is certainly more than any of the aforementioned products, but it seems to be that much better in terms of accuracy and ease of use than the other table devices I've used in the past.  I will give a report as soon as I get a chance to play with my new toy.

Back from the wedding and still alive(and a big thanks to all for the well-wishes!  It was great!),
