Greetings,
I have a bunch of different tuning prices. I charge the school $80 per
tuning, even if I go in the hall three days in a row and spend less time on the
two following days. Same price for the practice rooms and teachers studios.
I have no benefit package with the school, it is all on oral contract.
I charge the recording studios $109.25. Or more, depending on what
happens. Had one last week that needed to be dropped 12 cents and tuned to the nth
degree for a master recording session. I had 80 minutes before the
drum-sounds began. I charged $125 for that. I don't pursue this kind of account
because of the time-pressure ratio ain't mellow enough for me, nowadays. But, they
do pop up at times.
My regular, customers-in-their-homes I charge $125 to tune, and they know
other stuff like pedal lube or minor regulation tweaks will increase that.
This includes all the piano faculty and teachers I tune for at home. First
time customers are told, early on, that the first visit is a little higher,
usually $150.
Tunings go up to around $150 when I am out of town to tune, but it is
more likely that those tunings are going to accompany a fair amount of other work
so an hourly price of $100 is more likely to just cover the tuning time along
with all the rest of the work.
