This reminds me of a time when I made an emergency visit to a high school,
to put a Steinway B lyre back on after it had simply fallen off.
I had to put a thick piece of shoe leather on the rotating wedge for it, since
the two surfaces had 1/8" of space between them when the wedge
was at its closest. Probably a more recent replacement for the original
lyre, slightly undersize. At least the replacement looked like a real
Steinway lyre.

While I was down there fiddling around, I found the wedge for the rear
leg taped to the bottom of the keybed with very old masking tape, with
the screw for it taped beside it. They have been wheeling it around the
stage for years!

I thought this was really bad, and felt a sigh of self-righteous relief
when everything was installed and secure again -- only this photo is
even worse.

Someone needs to restore this leg attachment to the original system, if
need be by visiting other Steinway grands to ascertain what ought to be
there.
