I thought Ecsaine was the stuff Baldwin used on upright hammer butts and catchers for a while, instead of leather, and that over the years it hardened too much and started clicking, so then it had to be replaced, for which job Baldwin offered special kits which included glue and some new material. Or was the new material the Ecsaine? > --David Nereson, RPT > Woops.......replying to my own post, I forgot that the original material used by Baldwin on butts and catchers was Corfam (also used for shoe soles at the time) and that the replacement material they furnished was (is still?)
