Greg, This sounds like a classic case of growing action brackets. For some period of time, Young Chang used an improper mixture of metals for the action bracket castings. This causes them to keep expanding, causing you to continuously turn the let-off dowels down. The only solution is to replace the brackets. In the past, Young Chang would cover the cost under warranty (if less than 10 years old). Perhaps others can chime in, and provide the current contact names, numbers at Young Chang. Each time I go to tune it I find the hammers blocking at the strings. I'll turn down the let-off dowels to some degree of let-off to get me through the tuning. But each year I go back to her house the condition is the same, the hammers are blocking again. I want to regulate this piano as it should be but I am concerned that I will be frustrated by whatever it is that causes the return of this blocking condition. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Could this be a loose let-off rail? I have marked the capstans to see if they were turning on their own and they don't appear to be. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
