I found the solution to the rotting liner for your Hold-heet glue pot. I bought two new liners for my two pots and then found out about this and set the new liners aside for the last 5-6 years. I have special size of translucent plastic bottles made for me. I sell them to player piano, pipe organ, and piano rebuilders. Three of them fit in the glue pot very well. I mix up the glue at home in the double boiler, or microwave, pour it into the bottles and it requires no more futzing with the thickness of the glue. Keep the three bottles in the pot with no water and they stay nice and hot. On some glue pots I must turn up the temp which is inside the pot and it done by taking out two screws. The thermostat is on the bottom of the non-removable liner while the heating element is in the walls. The bottles heat up in about 30 minutes every morning. I use one bottle until it cools, put it back and get another while the first one reheats. The only trick with using a bottle for your glue is you must get this technique down or you will spray glue all over your work a time or two: Pick up bottle--squeeze some of the air out-- turn bottle over-- squeeze out glue on your item-- turn bottle back upright and release the squeeze. If you do not squeeze some of the air out and you just turn it over, it heats the air inside and expands it spewing glue out the nozzle. Also I can tell when my apprentices have this technique down---the no longer have to keep clearing the nozzle of glue globs. This simple action will keep the bottle spouts open and usable easily. Check out these bottles at: http://www.thepianoworld.com/hot_glue_bottles.htm I also sell the top notch high clarity hide glue used in all the best of shops. I sell it by the pound without having to buy 100 pound bags at a time. It is the best glue I have ever used in over 30 years. The glue found at piano and player piano supply co.'s is not that great too often. I have had to throw it away because it did not stick very well. This stuff I get, use and sell is awesome, strongest possible. Bottles: 7 for $10. Glue: $7. per pound D.L. Bullock St. Louis www.thepianoworld.com Do you or your family have a health challenge?
