Historically, I have went to the hardware store, bought several boards =
of Alder, glued them side by side, ran them through a planer and fit the =
rest with my table saw.  A lot work but really good results.  I used =
Alder because it was a hard wood that was relatively inexpensive =
locally.  I like the idea of a better plywood that was posted as it wood =
save me the nuissance of taking the board to someone with a planer.
