We may be talking about 2 different things. Attachments sent to files@ptg.org are never modified. I've turned down 1 or 2, and renamed a handful of others, but other than that, attachments sent of files@ptg.org are not messed with. Now, over-size attachments sent to the regular lists like pianotech are a different story. The size of the photos allowed on pianotech are not absolute because the limit is set for the total size of the e-mail including text and photo. Roughly, photo files of 90k or so should go through if the rest of the message is short. (Things are more "liberal" on the CAUT list, the limits are higher, and there over-limit e-mails are sometimes approved anyway.) Depending upon who is admin on duty, if an e-mail to pianotech is over the limit, the admin may doctor the photo so it will come in under the limit. If the sender of a file wants to retain complete control over the file, send it to files@ptg.org, not to pianotech.
