The problem is that I don't want to damage the veneer in any way. Would =
it work if I just opress it with a hot iron?
Maybe with a damp cloth too at first?

While clamping and gluing will produce the best results (use wax =
paper), or newspaper if you are stripping and finishing and have to sand =
it anyway...you may also apply an iron and achieve very good =
results...all methods will require a bit of refinishing knowledge... on =
curved surfaces and smaller bubbles, the iron works great, and oh by the =
way, you can use elmers glue!
