Playing hard with the sustain pedal depressed much of the time in a relatively large sanctuary (too small of a piano for that venue, of course) leads to this kind of a problem. Also, check to make sure the wippen flange screws are tight because if they are not the hammers sometimes block causing breakage. Yamaha is great at replacing bass strings.
