re: melting down for re-use..

Joe mentioned this... wondered if anyone else has done this and evnt
what are the health risks and precautions... and for that matter... just
what kind of gear is needed to do this, how much heat.... what to melt
it in.... how fast it must be re-cast into other forms.... etc etc.

Cheers

Companies that sell to fisherman that make their own lures have "ovens" or
melting pots that bring lead to a pourable temperature. They sell a varity
of molds, but I've not seen any in the shape of piano key leads. One can
only guess at the price of a custom made molds for the various key leads.
Somehow this doesn't sound like a cost effective means of lead disposal.
BTW, I tried giving lead to black powder/muzzle loading bullet makers...the
key lead was too hard. Tire shops around here take it.
