Since they were bought= out by Sears, who knows? A couple of screws are on the way. = Confirm your present address. I like the threaded insert= approach. The trick is to install the insert perpendicular to= the surface. I think I would use 3/8, sink the insert rather= deep with an Allen wrench and use machine screws. You could use= the lyre as a template to drill. Photo attached.>> Cool insert! Where do you get those things? Home Depot? Some= specialty supply? I checked the threading, and nothing seems to be damaged. It= happened because some genius put the screw back into the hole= after removing the lyre and then put a moving blanket over the= whole thing. Naturally someone grabbed/shoved it, and it bent= right over. Even so, the wood seems fine. If you have a screw= like this one lying around, it would save me from having to= retrofit a machine screw or resort to a lag. ;-) Ron, I had thought about the lag screw thing (including chucking= the thing and lathing the head round), but it would have the= wrong thread pitch (perhaps 10 tpi?). I could go to a 3/8" lag,= of course. I just hate to do that. A threaded insert seems= more elegant a solution, if I have to go that route. Thanks, all! :-) Peace, Sarah ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
