It can be significant. Friction there can come from two directions - =
rough surfaces on the capstan and wip heel and all that can be =
exacerbated by poor action geometry (not centered on the magic line). =
Solution: get contact at half blow on the magic line (or as close as =
reasonably possible), polish capstan, new felt on wip heel (don't want a =
dimple in the felt) lubricated with microfine Teflon powder.
