OK, the two jokes that are obviously being avoided here, and that I must
insert just to get them out of the way, are:

Re, the bass fishing: You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish.

And then there was: What's the difference between a bass and a cello? The
bass burns longer.

Interesting comment. I typically lower the bass to what works for 
me, following other tuners. Following others, I also too often find 
the killer octave flat, and the high treble sharp of my preference. 
This must surely mean something, whatever it might be.
