Hi Richard,

The adjustable humidistat idea has a few flaws, in my opinion.

It implies that relative humidity is the key issue for the piano, and
reinforces this focus on RH, instead of EMC. Technicians often ignore the
end result [stability from Equilibrium Moisture Content] in favour of the
current situation [relative humidity at this moment, what is the system
doing right now?]. The "adjustable" idea plays to this misconception a bit.

I have big question marks with: the amount of adjustment feasible, actual
means of accurately triggering an adjustment to the cycling point within the
device, and its ability to then achieve those cycling results within the
whole system.

Then, you gotta wonder whether we really want another variable in our
"detective work". Sometimes stabilising an instrument is worked on over a
long period of time. When we are baffled by our findings, we become
suspicious of what happened while we were gone. Particularly in a grand, I
see many points of trouble but not much gain to a tweakable control. As it
is, it takes fully three spread-out visits to realise a single provable
change on a piano -- one to change something, one for detailed tuning work
at A440, and another to measure and see what happened.

  List,

Is Dampp-chaser planning on bringing out an adjustable humidistat like the
one Moisture King has? Also , can theirs be used with a dc system?
