West System #410 Microlite isn't a bad place to start mixed with their regular epoxy and a slow cure to allow it to creep down and fill the crack as best as possible. To tweak the color you can get Golden Star Product's stains in various wood colors. A perfect match is difficult, but don't open the crack too much, i.e. keep it thin, and the line will blend better when it's all covered with varnish. Notice that many of those old spruce boards have several colors in the grain, some darker than others. Choose which color you want to match depending on where the line is. Wet the panel with mineral spirits to get a better sense of what the color will be with the varnish on. The way that I've seen recent repairs using epoxy, the former cracks are solidly repaired-- BUT stand out like a SORE THUMB because the epoxy dries in a much darker color. Any one have a suggestion? Thanks! Andrew Olson Sturgeon Bay, WI _______________________________________________ pianotech list info: https://www.moypiano.com/resources/#archives
