If you have a little trouble on how far to back the pin out, more is better than less. You can always take a pin-set and hammer and drive the pin level with its neighbors, after relieving some tension first. On the stiffer gauges, utilizing needle nose pliers to push the string back into the hole can help after you have turned it a little. A coil lifter lever is quite useful to neaten things up after you have a little (not full) tension on the wire. Putting a little paper card stock on the plate before using the lever will protect the finish. Reblitz's book has good instruction and pictures too. Practice this on the heaviest gauge unwound wire before doing a wound (bass) string replacement. Don't ask... ;-) Andrew
